Artisan stands for someone who skilfully creates something with their hands, it could be for practical purposes or purely decorative such as furniture, artwork, clothing or jewellery. Some traditional skills have been around for thousands of years and like fashion, raise to popularity and fade away as trends change. There are many different types of artisan, those who do it for a hobby and those who do it as a trade.
Cultural influences, relaxed tailoring and reinvented workwear is experimented with for this trend and throughout this project I will collect primary and secondary research, explore and experiment different types of artisan techniques and look into the history of each technique. I'll also gain inspiration from artists and designers to create a dress inspired the Artisan trend forecasted for Autumn / Winter 16/17.
